Mumbai: More than a decade after their hush-hush 2014 wedding in Italy, Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji has finally shed light on the enduring mystery surrounding their unpublished wedding photos, attributing the strict secrecy to her highly private husband, filmmaker Aditya Chopra.
In a recent candid interview, the National Award-winning actress revealed that the decision to keep the wedding pictures strictly private was entirely driven by Chopra’s intensely reclusive nature.
“My husband is a very private person, and I think he wanted the wedding to be very private,” Mukerji shared. “So obviously, I don’t think he’ll ever want the wedding pictures to be out.”
The actress, who exchanged vows with the Chairman of Yash Raj Films (YRF) in a small, intimate ceremony, confirmed that this philosophy of privacy is a way of life for the couple and is deliberately extended to their daughter, Adira.
When playfully asked if the public might have to wait until their “silver jubilee” to finally see the photographs, a cheerful Mukerji quipped, “Maybe! Actually, that’s a very good idea.”

Mukerji further explained her own belief in maintaining a clear distinction between her professional and personal life, a sentiment she says she shares with her husband.
“I do think that there are certain things that you need to keep to yourself because you need to protect your environment slightly,” she stated. “Everything can’t be for everyone to see because we are already so exposed. There are things that you need to keep private—what you are doing with your family.”
The couple’s commitment to keeping their family life shielded from the spotlight has been evident since their wedding, with the filmmaker being famously camera-shy and the couple consistently working to keep their daughter Adira away from the media glare.
