Veteran actor Seema Deo passed away at 83. A doyen of Marathi cinema, she has appeared in a number of Hindi films such as Koshish, Kora Kagaz and Anand.

Her son filmmaker Abhinay Deo shared with indianexpress.com, “Mom passed away earlier today. She was fine, she was suffering from Alzheimer’s, but otherwise she was fine.”
In 2020, Abhinay had opened up about his mother’s medical condition and tweeted, “My mother Shrimati Seema Deo, doyen of Marathi film industry, is suffering from Alzheimer’s. We, the entire Deo family, have been praying for her well being, wish whole of Maharashtra who loved her so much also pray for her well being.”
Apart from appearing several Hindi films, Seema was a renowned actor in Marathi cinema as well. She appeared in over 80 films throughout her career. Her Marathi credits include Jagachya Pathivar, Vardakshina, among many others. She was last seen in the 2021 Marathi film Jivan Sandhya.
In 2017, Seema said she owed her career to her guru Raja Paranjape. She said in Pune at an event, “Whatever I could achieve in my career, it’s all because of my guru Raja Paranjape. He not only taught me to act but also trained me so rigorously that it became very natural.”
Seema’s husband, veteran actor Ramesh Deo, passed away in 2022 due to a heart attack. In 2011, Ramesh spoke to The Indian Express and said that Seema was very lucky for him as he recounted their love story. He shared that they first met each other in a local train and he was enchanted by the fragrance of mogra that she was wearing in her hair. He said that the day he met her, he landed a significant film role. They got married in 1963 and were married for 59 years.
