Shah Rukh Khan, director Atlee, and Jawan’s star cast attended a grand pre-release event for the film in Chennai
Actor Shah Rukh Khan attended the grand pre-release event for Jawan on Wednesday. The event took place in Chennai, where the film’s editor Ruben shared some interesting anecdotes from behind the scenes. As the film’s promotions kicked off, Ruben revealed that Shah Rukh graciously encouraged him to sacrifice his own scenes in order to safeguard those of his co-stars.
The audio launch saw the grand entry of Shah Rukh, who leads the action entertainer. The film’s director Atlee also made a stylish entry on the stage. Jawan also stars Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara in pivotal roles.
While talking to the audience, Ruben spoke about Shah Rukh’s graciousness. He said, “I thank Shah Rukh Khan for trusting us. Not just one, but a whole bus of Tamilians landed in the North. It needs some guts to do that. Also, as a human, he is a great… For example, at the editing table, he told me to cut the portions of him and spare the scenes of others.”
Ruben also shed light on Vijay’s character in Jawan, and said that watching the actor’s performance gave him sleepless nights. “I love Vijay Sethupathi… Most importantly the films where he is the villain. In Jawan, he has played a character which is death personified. His role gave me sleepless nights.”
The well-known film editor shared that while he shot at different locations in the country, away from his home state of Tamil Nadu, he never really felt away from home, thanks to Atlee. “I am not good in Hindi and most of the technicians also don’t. But when I went there to shoot in some unknown locations, everyone around me was Tamil on the sets. We should thank Atlee for making it feel like home,” he said.
Director Atlee also praised Vijay Sethupathi as he said, “There’s no one out there like you. No hero has the guts to do what you do. You don’t care about anything and keep walking forward and we follow you… No one will realise the heights you are reaching now. They will all know in retrospect.”
