Mumbai — Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor has given fans a major update on the highly anticipated sequel to his 2023 blockbuster Animal, confirming that the next installment, ‘Animal Park,’ is slated to begin production in 2027.
The actor shared the news during an impromptu Instagram Live session hosted on the official account of his personal brand, ARKS, which took place on the occasion of his birthday.
“Animal Park should start in 2027,” Ranbir stated, addressing the frequent fan queries about the sequel. “Sandeep [Reddy Vanga, the director] has been interacting with me on the idea, the music and the characters, and it’s just crazy, and I can’t wait to be on set.”
A “Bigger, Bolder” Trilogy
The brief but exciting update confirms a definitive timeline for the sequel, which has been in high demand since the original film ended with a major cliffhanger. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has previously hinted that he envisions the Animal saga as a three-part film series.
Kapoor’s enthusiasm for the project was palpable, suggesting that the vision for ‘Animal Park’ will be “bigger, bolder, and more engaging” than its predecessor. Notably, the actor is expected to take on a dual role in the sequel, playing both the protagonist and the antagonist, a challenge he has expressed great excitement about.
Packed Slate Until 2027
The 2027 start date for ‘Animal Park’ aligns with Ranbir Kapoor’s heavily occupied schedule over the next two years. The actor is currently immersed in two of the most-awaited cinematic projects:
- ‘Ramayana’: He is set to star as Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s grand mythological epic, which is scheduled for release in parts.
- ‘Love & War’: He will also be reuniting with his debut director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, for the drama Love & War, which co-stars his wife, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal.
The news ensures that fans will have to wait for the next chapter of the intense crime-drama saga, but the actor’s confirmation has successfully reignited the excitement surrounding the film’s return.
